The Rey Jaime I Prizes were created in 1989 through the initiative of the Valencian Foundation for Advanced Studies. His Majesty the King is the Honorary President. Their objectives are to promote investigation and scientific development in Spain with the help of scientific entities and business organizations. Rey Jaime I Prizes have a national scope and are organized annually. This year they will be awarded in eight different categories: Basic Research, Economics, Medical Research/Clinical Medicine, Protection of Nature, New Technologies, Urban planning, landscape and Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Social Commitment

Addressed to
Individuals, preferably residing in Spain, whose work is highly significant and has been made mostly in Spain.
Nomination
Candidates can be proposed by researchers, Universities, Royal Academies, Professional Colleges, Hospitals, Businesses, Managerial Associations, Business Schools, Foundations and whomever the Foundation invites to do so. The candidates of previous years can renew their candidacy by a written communication with the Foundation.
Award
The winner of each award will receive a diploma, a gold medal and a hundred thousand euros, with the commitment to allocate a portion of the prize to research.
