Plenary lecture: Francisco Bezanilla. Professor Bezanilla is a Lillian Eichelberger Cannon Professor at the Institute for Molecular Pediatric Sciences, University of Chicago. One of the most innovative scientists in the ion channel field developing new techniques to study the molecular basis of excitability. He is a member of the United States Academy of Sciences and he has also been president of the Biophysical Society.
