Postdoctoral Position in NMR (EU project Nomorfilm)
Postdoctoral research position open at the University of Almeria (Spain), F. López-Ortiz Group, to apply NMR methodology in the context of the EU project Nomorfilm.
Biofilms, a community of bacteria attached to a surface, represent a major health problem due to their appearance in medical devices such as catheters, prosthetic joints, pacemakers, mechanical heart valves, etc. Treating biofilms is hindered by difficulties of penetration of antibiotics and the development of resistance to common antibiotics. The NOMORFILM project is aimed at discovering and applying new lead compounds with antibacterial and antibiofilm activity.
The Organic and organometallic chemistry group, University of Almería – UAL (Spain), lead by Prof. Fernando López Ortiz, will work together together with a consortium of 15 renowned international teams from academia and industry on the discovery and application of new lead compounds with antibacterial and antibiofilm activity. The team at the University of Almería is in charge of the structural elucidation of the new bioactive compounds isolated from the microalgae cultivars using mainly NMR methods.
The candidate for this postdoc position should have a strong background in organic chemistry and experience in the application and/or development of liquid-state NMR experiments as well as NMR data analysis for structural elucidation of complex molecules. Experience in High Resolution Magic-Angle Spinning NMR measurements and metabolomic studies will be positively evaluated.
