Artificial Mitochondria for Health
The group of Dr. Iván López-Montero at the Department of Physical Chemistry I at the Complutense University in Madrid is looking for Strongly motivated candidates for a PHD-student position.
The position is funded by the ERC (European Research Council) and covers a period of 3 years.
The work will focus on drug delivery in a framework of synthetic biology and will focus on the production ATP inside artificial model membrane systems and their delivery into human cell cultures carrying mitochondrial dysfunctions.
What is expected?
- Applicants should be ready to be accepted on a Spanish PHD thesis program in Experimental Science at the starting date.
- Laboratory experience and skills to work in collaborative interdisciplinary team are desirable.
- Candidates from any scientific discipline that are interested in interdisciplinary research questions at the interface between physics, chemisty and biology.
